Love the Right Way

For my first Fancy Friday I wanted to write about loving God's way. All people want that passionate, steamy, butterflies in the tummy love. And that's fine, but that should be our final destination after the rings have been swapped and the vow's have been said. God wants us to be smart and stay away from sexual impurity, which means girls, abstinence is priority until marriage.

Matthew 5:27-30 (NIV)

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ (Exodus 20:14) 28 But here is what I tell you. Do not even look at a woman in the wrong way. Anyone who does has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29 “If your right eye causes you to sin, poke it out and throw it away. Your eye is only one part of your body. It is better to lose it than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
30 “If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. Your hand is only one part of your body. It is better to lose it than for your whole body to go into hell.

1 Peter 2:11 (NASB)

11 Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.

James 1:14-17 (NIV)

14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 (NIV)

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable. (This is the verse on my purity ring)

If we do it that way, then I trust that God will give us the love we so desperately desire in our future. These verses clearly state that we will be tempted with fleshly sins, but that we can all overcome them with God's help if we only let him. And one day we will be standing at the altar vowing ourselves to the one person God chose to bless us with.

Then, their is also loving God's way during marriage, which is thoroughly explained in Ephesians. Husbands- Love your wives. Wives- Respect your husbands. I believe it says that because love is the most important thing to a women, as well as all men want to be respected and they will do anything to earn it.

Ephesians 5:22-33 (NIV)

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Because in the end this is the love I want to experience. Spending a lifetime side by side with one person and having God in the middle of it all.

Next week won't be so serious... I just wanted my first 'Fancy Friday' to be my thoughts and opinions on Love using verses from the Bible. Now lets have some fun:) Hope for you to check in next week!
