A Passion Redeemed by Julie Lessman

A Passion Redeemed (Daughters of Boston, #2)

Description:

Graced with physical beauty, though shallow of heart, Charity O'Connor is a woman who knows what she wants. She sets her sights on the cantankerous Mitch Dennehy, editor at the Irish Times, who has unwittingly stolen her heart. And although the sparks are there, Mitch refuses to fan the coals of a potential relationship with his ex-fiancee's sister. But Charity has a plan to turn up the heat and she always gets what she wants--one way or another. Is revenge so sweet after all? Or will Charity get burned?

Full of intense passion, betrayal, and forgiveness, "A Passion Redeemed" will delight Lessman's fans and draw new ones.

Update:

Well, let me tell you what happened to me Tueday. I was at school at the end of the day hanging out with some friends while waiting for the bus to come pick us up. I started sliding down a hallway that is sloped to say hi to some other friends that were still there. When I did that another one of my friends came up behind me and pushed me, but she was just playing around. Well, when she did that I tripped, lost my footing and rammed straight into the corner of a brick wall! I recieved a busted lip and chipped off half of one of my front teeth. My friend feels awful about it!:( It sucks, but I know she didn't mean to do it. The busted lip is doing a lot better, but I still have quite a bit of swelling inside my mouth. I am going to the dentist next thursday to see about getting a crown and braces put on. So, I have had a long week... I'm sorry it took me a little while to read A Passion Redeemed, I started out really fast. However, I have been doing a TON of homework because of state test coming up and on top of that I have had chores and then the tooth incident. Just thought I would share that with you guys. Now for the review...

My Opinion:

This second book in the Daughters of Boston series was not a disappointment! It was great! I really felt for the characters in this book.
Mitch. I am so proud of him! He really changed his life around for the better when he met Faith in A Passion Most Pure. I love how he wouldn't settle for anything less in a relationship than both him and his wife being followers of Christ. I felt so bad for him when I read this book.  Knowing he couldn't have his hearts desire because she did not have a relationship with God. It broke my heart! How much it devastated him mad me want to cry.
Charity. She's starting to grow on me. Reading this book I got to see her point of view on things and see how she treated other people than her family. She really does have a kind heart even though her relationship with her family needed a lot of work. You get to see her kindness by the way she treats her friend Emma. I loved how the book dug down deep into Charity's personal issues, showing me why she was the way she was. Then to see her transformation was incredible, even though she still has a long way to go.
This book really showed me the devastation of heart break. It showed me not to settle for anything less than what I know God has planned for me. That if i'm patient and obedient he will reward me with the desire of my heart.
It also did a really good job at showing the consequences of a persons sins. The book used this verse a few times: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord- Romans 6:22-23. Charity did many things that were not honorable, and after she did them it would say she felt dead inside. I don't think the verse means litteral death, but that you will feel used, unholy, like nothings important anymore, like no one cares..etc. That's when we realize that not commiting sin will give us the knowledge of Gods love, the gift of eternal life, and our riches in heaven. What's better than that?
I hope this review helps you decide whether or not to read A Passion Redeemed.:) I pray that if you read it you will get what I got out of it or possibly even more!

  1. Sooo sorry about your mouth, Salyna, will definitely be in prayer that all goes well at the dentist and that there's little or no pain involved! Also in prayer about the state test for you to have peace and success in taking it.

    You really showed me a new perspective on this book in the credit you give to Mitch :) Charity also started to grow on me in this book, but it was challenging for me to understand her character. I think you explained that scripture perfectly.

    This is such a good review and beautifully stated, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this book :) Have a great weekend and feel better my purple loving friend, hugs!

  4. Okay, thanks Julie! I am trying to be able to post reviews on Amazon. It wouldn't let me tell after I made a purchase from Amazon. So, I just did that but now I have to wait 48hrs after the book that I bought is shipped for it to be confirmed or something like that. After all that is done then I will be able to post reviews. I hope it works out to where I can post reviews before your contest is done;)

    The tooth isn't fixed yet, but we are working on getting a crown and braces put on.

    I'm glad you liked this review also:) Hope to talk to you again soon!

  5. Hi Salyna! :) I just came across your site earlier and started reading your reviews. :) Your site looks so cool! :) And when I got to the part about your poor mouth!!! :( Ouch! :( Prayers for you and for success on the state test. :) I haven't read the book in your review, A Passion Redeemed by Julie Lessman, but I think Mitch sounds like a very good guy. :) And if he's the guy on the cover he's gorgeous! :D It definitely caught my attention! :) I wanted to say about Romans 6:22-23, it's about eternal death (forever death seperated from God) because of unforgiven sin, but God's gift to us, by believing in Jesus to save us from our sins, by asking Him to forgive us, since God's the only One Who can forgive us, that is the only way to have eternal life with Him in Heaven. :) All of our sins can be forgiven just by asking Jesus to forgive us - I'd much rather rely on Jesus than myself. That eternal life the verse talks about comes only from God, a gift from Him, not ourselves, it's through Christ Jesus our Lord. :)

    One of my favorite verses - John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

    All my hope is resting on Him and in Him. :)

    I've got to check out more of your reviews and see what books I'd like to read. :) Libraries are pretty good about having these books available. :)

  6. Thanks so much for the comment Dee! Means a lot to me. Also thanks for your imput on what the verses Romans 6:22-23 mean. I couldn't have put it any better!

    I also love John 3:16. Right now my favorite verse is Isaiah 41:10 New International Version (NIV)
    10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
    I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

    It's really good at bringing my spirits up when I feel down, and reminding me of the strength I have through my Lord and Savior.

    Almost all the books that I have reviewed I have gotten through a library, so I don't think you will have difficulty finding them:)

  7. You're welcome, Salyna. :) I figure one of the best things we can do for one another in this world is pray for each other. :) God helped me put into words about the verse. :)

    I love Isaiah 41:10 also! :D Very beautiful and comforting and true! :) So much power in this verse! :) "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." I want to memorize it. :)

    Cool, yep, I figure that if they don't have a particular book, they can maybe get the title from another library. :)I'm going to need to make a list from your site of what books to read! :D
