Fancy Friday- A Passion Most Pure Casting and GIVEAWAY

A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, #1)Last weeks Fancy Friday inspired me to do more of these. In fact, I got sooo into it that I just couldn't stop tell I completed EVERY couple from both DOB and WOC. This week I am sharing the first book, A Passion Most Pure from the DOB series. Then, I think I'll probably continue to go in order after that. I don't know yet if I will do one of these every week until I'm finished showing them all off, or if I will do things in between.

I have been consulting Julie Lessman these, so she has seen them all already. We both have agreed on these except for last weeks Luke McGee. I hope all of you like the rest of the casting. So, without further ado here is Collin McGuire and Faith O'Connor!!!

Character Descriptions:

Faith O'Connor- As a kid/teen Faith was a very scrawny/boney girl. She was born with a twin named Hope but around the age of 9 Hope died because of health issues. For a long time Faith wore leg braces because of birth complications as well. She had Auburn hair and green eyes that were consider haunting. However, when she grew up she filled out a little bit and gone were the leg braces. Her eyes became mesmerizing and her hair beautiful. She was average height. Her character/morals were pure, but she was definitely high strong.

Collin McGuire- He's what you would consider a Hot player in high school. He was tall at a height of over 6', tan from being outside, and just plain handsome. But of course, he knew this. So he may have been very nice to look at on the outside, but there wasn't much to look at on the inside. Until he meets Faith anyway... He has dark brown hair and piercing grey eyes.

My Choices:

Kiera Knightley as Faith O'Connor

Kiera Knightley- Faith? Kiera Knightley- Faith? Keira Knightley- Faith?
Now, I know that Kiera doesn't have red hair or green eyes, but that's besides the point. I mean, they can change those things for movies right? I picked her because she is of the right build and character. We all know that Kiera is definitely a small women. She is also great at playing stubborn girls who just have to prove everyone wrong as well, example, Pride and Prejudice. She's also pretty without being OVER the top, kinda a subtle sneak up on you beauty. Know what I mean?

Young Hugh Jackman as Collin McGuire

Collin McGuire Young Hugh Jackman as Collin McGuire YOUNG Hugh Jackman- Collin McGuire
Now I don't know about any of you, but I have always thought Hugh Jackman was EXTREMELY attractive and I'm 17! I know, my family jokes around saying I like older men, but who can blame me when it comes to that face? And when he was younger? *Sigh*. Anyway, Hugh is 6'2'' and obviously tall dark and handsome. And if you've seen him in anything you should know that he does have this arrogant look about him. So, I pretty much just think he's perfect for the part!

  1. "A Passion Most Pure" is my favorite romance book!

When I think Collin and Faith, I think the book cover models, lol.

The one of Hugh on the very right looks the closest to Collin, but I am not big on Kiera being Faith.

    1. I agree, GRACE!! In fact, I SOOO love the pic of Collin on the cover, that when I reread APMP (once a year ... and yes, I know I'm crazy to read my own books!!), I constantly refer back to the cover to look at him. :) AND I have his model shot that Revell sent me taped up over my desk, so how juvenile am I???

      Don't answer that ... ;)

But, yes, I also concur that Hugh comes the closest of anyone I've seen, so GOOD JOB, Salyna!!

      Hugs,
      Julie

    2. Just made my day reading a comment from you!

That's not crazy at all, especially if the characters are dear to your heart. Lol, okay, I won't answer(but the cover Collin matches the imaginings of the book Collin quite well. :-) )

  2. I love to see someone else's view of who they feel characters in a book would be represented by in "real" life. I don't have that big of an imagination so it always interests me what someone else comes up with. I kind of like your Keira Knightly and Hugh Jackman combo :)I'm a huge fan of Julie Lessman's books and eagerly await each new one that comes out. Looking forward to your other book star match-ups!

    1. Thanks, DIANE, but girl, if you like the book cover, I challenge you to read the book because that angry look on the hero's face is because he is a bad boy who wants the heroine but can't have her because she wants a relationship with God at the center. :)

    1. ANDIE ... SAY IT AIN'T SO!! I sooooo love Keira as Faith, although I do think Faith is sweeter than Keira. :)

Kate Winslet??? You wanna hear something weird? I have never been crazy about her from Titanic on because I was upset about the nude scene, the fingernails on the steamy car scene, sex before marriage, and the F words in that movie. My daughter was 12 and the ONLY one in her Christian school class that hadn't seen the movie when it came out because I wouldn't let her till her dad and I saw it.

HOLY COW ... talk about a skewed Hollywood message cloaked in true love!! But I felt so badly for my daughter, that we bought her the movie for her birthday and I taped Full House over the sex and language scenes. LOL ... she and her friends would be watching it and BOOM!! Uncle Jessie would pop up along DJ and friends. ;) I also made sure she understood that Hollywood's morality is NOT God's morality!! Because after all, I may write passionate romance, but it darn well better have God at the center or it's toast. :)

      Hugs,
      Julie

    2. LOL!!! I understand why you did that Julie, but would it be rude to say that that is Hilarious! I'm seventeen and my parents still have me cover my eyes while they fast forward through sex scenes. God Bless Them! I wish my parents would have known how to do that though!

    4. What a great way to "fix" those scenes! Love your comment, "Because after all, I may write passionate romance, but it darn well better have God at the center or it's toast." :D We did similar things... just not taping other things over the offending scene.

    1. Thanks, CYNDI ... I'm glad she stood firm, too!! And you know what?? I did, too, when I was a young single (Christian) girl, so Faith comes by it honestly. Of course, I was a 70s wild child until I came to the Lord at 23, but from that point on, I would only settle for a marriage with God in the center. I actually based Faith's "moral strength" on the kind of grace God gave me back then to do the very same thing. :) Only God can take a wild-child agnostic with no morals and turn her in to a Faith O'Connor. :)

  36. Hi there! Love your blog! You've reviewed some of my favorite books!
I agree with the many comments that the cover models are my ideal Faith and Colin.
Still, I think I'm going with the majority and saying that I definitely can see how Keira would fit the role of Faith. As you said the eyes and hair color can be adjusted.
Yet, I do have some complaints. First, she is (now anyways) a bit too old to play Faith. I also think Kiera lacks a sort of innocent and gracious air that Faith would have to possess. An actress similar to Keira perhaps would be Irish Katie McGrath. She's best known for most recently starring as Morgana Pendragon in BBC's "Merlin" (it's my favorite show so I may be biased, haha). Katie does have green eyes, while she lacks the hair, but as you said fixable. I think Katie has sort of a look of dedicated determination that really is Faith. After playing Morgana we know she's a woman who loves to play a strong female lead who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She'd be my 'nominee' for Faith.
I really picture Colin as the cover model, but I think you are right that a young Hugh comes close. I really can't think of anyone else. Thanks for sharing Salyna! God bless! ~ Sarah

Thank you so much for replying! I'm glad you like Katie... I really admire her as an actress! Plus, she definitely has that true Irish air if nothing else :D. I loved reading your blog about covers. I totally judge books by their covers... totally. I can't believe how much work has gone into it all. I think the final products truly are the perfect fits for the characters I've come to know and love in your books! I'm so glad you were able satisfied with the finals... after all, it is YOUR vision they are bringing to life! Thank you for responding! I just finished "A Hope Undaunted" this past week and loved it!
God bless! Thanks so much for responding!

  37. I love both of those actors. They both are really great, but as one person commented they are a little old. Here is my idea of who I think Emma Stone and Zac Efron. They are both younger. Emma has a sassiness about her and I think she could play the innocence. Zac, well he is just all around good looking. His height is a little under, but could make it work.
Julie your books are great!! You are a special lady - love you.

Oh, girl, I agree about Emma Stone (LOVE HER!!), but Salyna NAILED IT TO THE WALL on picking Emma for one of my other books, so wait till you see THAT combo -- AWESOME!!!

Hugs and here's to a win!!

  40. Those are great choices! I usually base the characters off of the cover models, unless their description is too different. I think Kiera Knightly is a great pick, though I would lean towards a slightly younger male for Collin. Who--I don't know. I think the cover model summed him up pretty well :-)
The funny thing is, I could never picture Faith looking at all different from the cover! Her hair always had to be up in my mind, so I think making these cast pages are great! And fun!

    1. Hey, MARIE ... I like the cover model pretty darn well also, so we're in sync on that one, but if one would have to pick a celebrity, I think Salyna came as close as you can come with Hugh Jackman!

      Thanks for coming by, sweetie!

      Hugs,
      Julie
